2018 – 19 VISITING LECTURER: Dr. Tiber Falzett
In the autumn of 2017, Scottish Heritage USA agreed to fund the entire amount necessary to support the 2018-19 Visiting Lectureship in Scottish Gaelic Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. GaelicUSA is proud to have enabled the creation of the first position of its kind in an American university (although it will only last the current academic year).
Dr. Tiber Falzett is an outstanding scholar who is filling the role of Visiting Lecturer in Scottish Gaelic Studies at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in the 2018-19 academic year. Read the full announcement and introduction to the lecturer in this blog post.
Dr. Falzett will be presenting a free, open public lecture about Halloween at UNC on October 26, 2018. See the details as FaceBook event here.
The First Step. Thanks to the great generosity and commitment of Scottish Heritage USA, and all of our supporters, the Visiting Lectureship is a tremendous first step towards our our ultimate goal of establishing an endowed chair in Scottish Gaelic Studies here in the United States. But there is a great deal of work left to do to reach that goal.
Your support continues to be essential to growing the movement that can provide an academic home base for Scottish Gaelic research and teaching at a major American university. Help us prepare for the next steps in the initiative. Read more about the 2018 – 19 UNC Visiting Lectureship in Scottish Gaelic Studies here.
